The Leopold Street is a small neighbourhood North of Leeds City Center.
The project involved working with a group of local residents who are campaigning with the local authority to develop the site into a co-housing community. The role of my team was to develop a number of design proposals based on the level of sustainability and intervention involved.
This project involved research or variations in the structure and design of different co-housing communities around the world as well as those based in UK. We also conducted interviews with residents of existing co-housing communities and people closely associated with them. This enabled us to devise a set of main principles shared by the majority of co-housing communities. We used those principles to consolidate our design proposals through a deeper understanding of the client’s needs.
